Appleseed creates an ecosystem for change in Alabama by amplifying the voices of justice-involved individuals and their families, connecting their experiences to key stakeholders: judges, faith leaders, elected officials, and corporate leaders. Our evidence-based research and bi-partisan advocacy drives both individual outcomes and systemic change. Our campaigns use policy analysis, research and documentation, public education, community organizing, coalition building, and direct legal and reentry services. Our strategies are varied, but our focus on confronting the failures of mass incarceration in one of the toughest states is unwavering.
